Certifications & Sustainability
Our goal is to always have our quality and your safety in mind.
Our latex is Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS) certified.
Our mattresses produce low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and are free of any polyurethane foams, fiberglass, formaldehyde, or pesticides, meeting the stringent chemical emissions requirements to achieve GREENGUARD Gold certification. This means there is no noxious off gassing.
Our partnership with CleanHub is preventing 110,000 pounds of plastic waste from ending up in landfills, open environments, or our oceans. Read our Impact Report.
We ensure our partners adhere to ethical practices and responsibly source our products' organic and natural components.
Premium Materials
Comfortable on your body and your conscience.
ORGANIC COTTON makes up the beautiful matelassé weave on the cover. Organic Cotton provides plush softness and maximizes moisture wicking and ventilation to keep you cool.
ORGANIC LATEX is vital in providing cradling support. We use organic, GOLS certified latex that is not only naturally hypoallergenic and anti-microbial, but offers optimal airflow.
NATURAL WOOL plays a key role in providing comfort and insulation. Wool fiber is naturally hygroscopic and wicks moisture remarkably well, encouraging increased airflow and breathability.
DURABLE STEEL is used in our individually wrapped coils, providing body cradling, support, and motion isolation. We use high quality steel designed to last a lifetime.

What's the difference between the Birch Natural Mattress and the Birch Luxe Natural Mattress?
The Birch Luxe Natural Mattress is made with additional comfort layers, including three individual layers of natural wool, and two layers of organic latex, plus a plush pillow top. Learn more
What if I have a latex allergy?
Natural latex hypoallergenic and anti-microbial: it is not susceptible to molding and accumulating harsh microbes, and acts as a natural barrier to dust mites. We recommend, however, that customers with a latex allergy consult with their medical provider before purchasing.
Does the Birch Natural Mattress require a box spring, foundation, or a particular base?
We recommend avoiding the use of a traditional box spring directly under your mattress. Instead, we suggest using either a solid platform bed or a slatted foundation with firm, flat and thick slats, to properly support your Birch mattress. No matter which support system you choose, the slats should be no wider than 5.5 inches apart, as that could cause sagging and could potentially void your warranty. Learn more
We created the Birch Foundation to take the place of traditional box spring and provide a complementary natural aesthetic for your sleep setup.
